How to Make a Linoleum Block Print
   1. Make a design:
Sketch a simple, bold design with strong contrast.
Consider how the negative and positive space will translate once carved.
Establish a lightsource.
Remember that carved lines do NOT catch the ink
Tone is achieved through lines and hatching (not half tones)
  2. Transfer the design: Transfer the design to the linoleum block by either drawing directly on the block or using transfer paper to trace the design.
 3.Sharpen Tools:  V-gouge, U-gouge, cutter
 4. Carve the Linoleum using bench hook to prevent injury.
Start with details. Do not carve away large areas first.
 5. Ink the lino block using a brayer (roller)
 6. Select and trim paper.
 7. Print lino using the back of a wooden  spoon. Apply even pressure
 8. Do not lift the paper until the instructor checks the print.
 9. Clean up. Is it oil or water based ink?
 10. Sign and title the print in pencil (not with ink pen)
